So this week we switched over to species care at the Sondela Wild Life Centre. We first had a meeting with the Manager of the Wildlife Centre, Sieg Van Dyk. After our meeting we first had a tour on all the animals and to learn everything on the animals in the Wildlife Centre. We then got told how to do our first afternoon feeding and prepared the meat and the milk bottels. We also had to clean and got lectures as we went on during the week.  We got to handle some of the baby animals but it soon was ended when the young zebra we had died because of an unknown cause. It was a long and hard week for me at the Wildlife Centre because there were a lot of things to learn and also alot of things that we needed to understand

Site Guide Week 4

Wednesday and Thursday We were out in the field where set up for our first Game Capturing at Sondela . On Wednesday we went to the veld and started to set up the boma for the capturing. It is hard work because everything wasn't organised and threr was trouble in the commun ication part. But all and all we did well and everything got done in time for the next days work. On Thursday we started early in the morning and got a little lucky on a catch of wildebeeste. It was an extreme adrenaline rush running with the curtains and also chacing the animals into the truck. yes some of us had a few close encounters but it is part of the job and i was ready for it LUCKILY. The day went well and there were no serious injuries and all was weel and ready for the next days capture wich i didn't do because it was the start of my off weekend
